Remember Me- I am the One Who Loves You

Stuart Hamblin sang/wrote Remember Me, I am the One Who Loves You,  in 1954- the year Jan I were born. Later Dean Martin, Johnny Cash, and Willy Nelson would sing that song. I added a few photos of Jan and I, since 1972. Photos of both of us since I don't know who works harder to make our marriage work.  I am thankful for marriage as God ordained it and Marriage is still alive and well. My goal for 2016 is to make it better.

I am A State Worker

I still remember getting a call in August of 1985 asking if I would like to accept a job for WUTC and move to Pasco, Washington? It was a tough decision- I had just got a good job with Dairyfresh that I enjoyed and paid more. I started September 3rd, 1985 and they moved us to Marysville two years later under a promotion. It was so expensive there, that I requested a transfer to an opening in Wenatchee and moved on Christmas Day 1987. In 1992 I was to transfer to Kent or be laid off due to lack of funding. I commuted for one month until I could start with WSDOT on Oct. 3rd, 1992, with no break in service. My first winter was staying at Stevens pass to plow snow nights and in 2003 I transferred to Striping from maintenance where we would stripe from Canadian border to below Othello in summers. Winter months I go back to maintenance to plow snow and work with maintenance. It has been a good 31 years and I have made a lot of friends, they have given me some good equipment to work with, and I enjoy the medical insurance and leave, I can use. I also am glad safety is such a concern for them and I have seen some beautiful areas of the state as well. So here is a short video called "I'm A State Worker".(I hope you know me well enough I use humor a lot and the words are not mine totally.)

Gonna Fly Now- 2015 In Review

Gonna Fly Now", also known as "Theme from Rocky," is the theme song from the movie Rocky, composed by Bill Contin, and was  a hit in 1977.  Time goes by too fast for me. To remind you of that, and to invest your time wisely- I added photos taken on my phone and the dates to the Rocky Theme Song. (Some do not want photos taken and  this is not all we did)  I hope it encourages you to count your blessings and make the best of your time. We are so thankful for our family and friends and those who helped make 2015 such a wonderful year.  Happy New Year.

Youth is when you’re allowed to stay up late on New Year’s Eve. Middle age is when you’re forced to

“A New Year's resolution is something that goes in one year and out the other.

May all your troubles last as long as your New Year's resolutions!

An optimist stays up until midnight to see the New Year in. A pessimist stays up to make sure the old year leaves.

Best Marriage Advice I've Heard

Hats off to Columbia Grove Church in East Wenatchee for their work on helping marriages work.  This video was made several years ago, (I found this video on youtube) for a marriage series they were doing I think. I certainly am no expert or know the perfect answer to what we can do to strengthen marriages but I thought it has some good advice- anyone married as long as these couples deserve to be listened to. People who have been married for a long time are a valuable help and mentors that many church's overlook. I try to hang around couples married for a long time to listen and watch how they have done it.  I miss the days of Paul Harvey when he would announce the longest marriage anniversary- usually over 70 years. So to these three couples, thanks for sharing, Happy Anniversary. And never stop working on your marriage.
A group of women were at a seminar on "How to live in a loving
relationship with your husband".
The women were asked, "How many of you love your husband?"
All the women raised their hands.
Then they were asked, "When was the last time you told your
husband you loved him?"
Some women answered "today", a few "yesterday", and some
couldn't remember.
The women were then told to take out their cell phones and text
to their husband: "I love you, sweetheart."
The women were then told to exchange phones with another person,
and to read aloud the text message they received, in response.
Here are some of the replies:
1. Who the hell is this?
2. Eh, mother of my children, are you sick or what?
3. Yeah, and I love you, too. What's up with you?
4. What now? Did you wreck the car again?
5. I don't understand what you mean.
6. What the ___ did you do now?
7. You're kidding, right?
8. Don't beat around the bush; just tell me how much you need.
9. Am I dreaming?
10. If you don't tell me who this message is actually for, someone
will die.
11. I thought we agreed you wouldn't drink during the day.
12. Your mother is coming to stay with us, isn't she???

Mr. Scanman

Sixty one years ago the number one hit in nation was Mr. Sandman. (1954) Dan Roberts re-wrote/re-sang the song "Mr. Scanman" a few years ago. I added a few photos some of my friends shared with me- rather than expressing my concerns and lack of accountability- Please let me share some concerns my friends have shared with me and then you can decide.....I don't want to make this too serious, it is posted under "humor/liberals".
If the Paris attacks sparked U.S. officials to reexamine their refugee policy, you wouldn't know it. According to CNSNews's numbers, the Obama administration is still letting in hundreds of Syrian refugees -- just not the ones who identify as Christians. Since the November 13 terrorist tragedy in France, the U.S. has opened its doors to 236 Sunni Muslims and one (one!) Christian.

Despite making up roughly 10 percent of the Syrian population, Christians are still being blocked from the U.S. in disproportionate numbers. Of course, even more interesting is that Sunni Muslims are one of the few religious groups ISIS tolerates -- increasing the odds that a radical could slip in among them. Although not all are bad characters, the San Bernardino shooters were Sunni Muslims. And while we don't advocate closing the doors to refugees, we do believe in properly vetting the men and women resettling among us -- as Republican leaders proposed.

Christians, on the other hand, pose zero risk to American security but always seem to get the short of end of the stick in an administration whose policies are never beneficial to the faith our country was founded on. Of course, the president is never eager to put a spotlight on the persecution of Christians in the Middle East because he doesn't want to be portrayed as siding with Christian refugees over Muslim refugees. Draw from that what conclusions you may.

In the meantime, there are plenty of ways we can help the hurting without exposing ourselves to another terror attack. The U.S. can offer humanitarian support to those in refugee camps abroad. We can work with the international community to expand the safe zones so those who want to stay in their countries and begin rebuilding their lives can do so. And most importantly, we can provide military support to help defeat ISIS, so that people don't have to seek asylum in the first place.

The Greatest Gift of All (2015)

I love this time of year. I love to say Merry Christmas and not be ashamed or politically correct of the real meaning of Christmas. For 28 years we have sent out our cards on Dec. 7th and for past 10 years made that card into a video. This years song is by Ken and Sherri Easter called "The Greatest Gift Of All". I hope it gets caught in your mind and you sing it all day long. I look forward to hearing from friends this time of year- for many it is a memory that I cherish even more until we meet in Heaven. We have so much to be thankful for and I pray Gods Blessings on you. I hope you have a Merry Christmas and have experienced the Greatest Gift of All.

Christmas Card (2012)

For  the past 28 years we have tried to make our Christmas letter a one page poem, and for the past 10 years we have created a video of the previous years’ photos that follow the Christmas letter and that years highlights.  2012 years’ video song is from Steven Curtis Chapman called The Christmas Card. I found the words most fitting and hope my photos do not distract from that message. We had not done any one big item that year, but so thankful for the little moments that meant so much and for friends like you that fill our memories.  Just as we completed the video, we had to put down our cat we had for 17 years and on Dec 21st, Jans mom went home to her reward and is free from pain now- Celebrating Christmas in Heaven. I wish we could visit you  in person- hopefully at least we can hear back from you. We want to Wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Below is our Christmas Traditional Christmas Letter and if you click on the video, you will see our traditional Christmas Video for 2012.

Dec. 7th is the release date for our Christmas letters/videos per traditions. I have reposted this years post and to replace this post I have found a 2007 video on youtube that I do not have in my possession. the song is a Southern Gospel song by the late Jake Hess called "CHRISTMAS" .The photos may be a duplicate of the 2007 song I actually used, but you will love the song I am sure.
